About Founder
My Journey
Beginnings
I’m Hanke Chen, from China, the founder of Kelyland Outdoors—a company dedicated to helping businesses worldwide source and customize reliable camping gear. With over 12 years in the industry, I’ve made it my mission to connect overseas clients with China’s top manufacturing resources.
Turning Passion into a Solution
China offers unmatched manufacturing capabilities, but finding the right suppliers for quality outdoor products can be challenging. That’s why I founded Kelyland Outdoors in 2024—to provide a one-stop procurement service, making it easier for businesses, especially small ones, to access durable, stylish camping gear like tents, tarps, and furniture.
My journey started small, much like a garage startup. In 2013, fresh from earning my international economics degree, I began working at a tent factory, learning the craft from the ground up. Over the years, I visited 300+ factories and traveled to 100+ cities in China and Southeast Asia, fueled by my love for the outdoors and photography. These experiences inspired me to create Kelyland—a “small land” where clients can trust in gear built for adventure.
Roots and Growth
I grew up surrounded by martial arts and travel, teaching myself nunchaku as a teen and leading my university’s club. But my career took shape in the camping industry, where I saw China’s potential as a global manufacturing hub. Before launching Kelyland, I spent years mastering sales and production, helping overseas clients source products while still in school.
At first, there were no clients—just a vision. In 2014, I began exploring overseas markets, climbing Mount Kinabalu and capturing the journey with my Canon 650D. That passion for adventure drives Kelyland today, where my team of Anne, Fanny, Jim, Lee, Nigel, and I have supported businesses in over 50 countries without external funding.
Building Trust
To reach clients, I started sharing my expertise early on—travel insights from Southeast Asia and practical tips on sourcing camping gear. This openness built trust, turning inquiries into lasting partnerships. In 2025, I plan to launch online content, sharing my knowledge to help more businesses navigate the outdoor industry.

Camp Stove CE Certification Guide
Camp stove CE certification is one of those line items that looks straightforward on a sourcing checklist but trips up almost every first-time importer I’ve worked with. A novice category manager I know ordered 5,000 gas stoves from a Guangdong supplier, got photos of a CE mark that looked legit,

Glamping Tent Sizing Guide
Glamping tent sizes directly determine your container count, landed cost, and sell-through velocity — get them wrong and you’re sitting on a 40-foot box of wrong-season inventory that kills your margin. I’ve watched category managers approve a single size for a whole season, only to find the three-room layout doesn’t

Sub-Zero Sleeping Bag Temperature Guide
Most sub zero sleeping bag buyers focus on the temperature rating sticker, but anyone who’s tested them knows the sticker is often optimistic by 10-15°F. For retail category managers, that gap translates directly into returns, refunds, and a bruised brand reputation. You’re not just picking a bag—you’re betting on whether

Glamping Tent Shipping Costs: FOB vs DDP Breakdown
Glamping tent shipping costs can quietly eat a 15% margin if you don’t know the difference between FOB and DDP. Most buyers focus on the unit price from the factory, then get blind-sided by port fees, customs bonds, and demurrage. That’s the everyday reality for a category manager trying to

Black Coating vs Silver Coating for Tent UV Block
When you’re choosing between tent black coating vs silver for your next season’s product line, the UV block performance isn’t just a spec sheet number—it directly affects your return rates and customer satisfaction. Most category managers I talk to assume silver is the safer bet because it looks technical and

How to Design Retail-Ready Tent Packaging
Getting retail tent packaging design right is the difference between your product standing out on a shelf and being returned before a single camper sees it. For category managers at outdoor chains, the everyday risk isn’t just about tents that leak — it’s about packaging that fails compliance audits. We’ve
